Is Calcium Hydroxide And Lime Calcium Powder One Thing?

Ash calcium powder and calcium hydroxide, that is, slaked lime, are both lime refined powder products. Are they the same thing? In fact, in a broad sense, the two are the same, the main component is calcium hydroxide, but there are obvious differences in processing technology, finished products, uses, prices, etc. Let me tell you what is the difference between the two.

1. Market use

This is the main difference. Ash calcium powder is mainly used in construction, coatings, etc., such as bricklaying, wall painting, mortar, putty powder, water-based coatings, etc.; while calcium hydroxide is more used in industry and environmental protection, such as leather, metallurgy, papermaking. Sewage treatment, flue gas desulfurization, and food, medicine and other industries.

2. Processing technology

Affected by the use, the two are also different in production. Ash-calcium powder is obtained by fully digesting lime (block ash) with water and "aging", and then selecting powder through mechanical equipment (usually an ash-calcium machine). Calcium hydroxide is obtained by digesting lime (block ash) with water and screening it by powder selection equipment, which can be produced while digesting. Of course, food and pharmaceutical grade calcium hydroxide is another matter.

3. Product indicators

The ash calcium powder and calcium hydroxide produced by different processes naturally have different technical indicators. The calcium and magnesium content of ash calcium powder is required to be ≥90%, the moisture is ≥2%, the whiteness is at least 90 or more, and the fineness is greater than 325 mesh, generally between 325 and 600 mesh; while the calcium hydroxide content requires ≥90%, moisture ≤ 1%, the whiteness requirement is not as high as that of ash calcium powder, and the fineness is generally between 200 and 325 mesh.

4. Price positioning

Ash calcium powder is generally divided into ordinary ash calcium powder and pure ash calcium powder according to the use. The price of ash calcium powder is determined according to how much heavy calcium powder is added in the ash calcium powder; while calcium hydroxide generally cannot be added with heavy calcium powder, which determines its price. It is mainly the level of effective calcium content in the product, which is generally divided into 80%-85%, 86%-90%, 91%-95% grades, and the price of each grade is generally about 60-100 yuan per ton.

The above is the difference between ash calcium powder and calcium hydroxide. Ordinary calcium hydroxide cannot be used as a substitute for ash calcium powder in architectural coatings, but ash calcium powder that meets the standard can be used in industry instead of calcium hydroxide.
